The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today filed charges against British hedge fund Glen Point Capital and its co-founder Neil Phillips for alleged foreign exchange market manipulation.

The regulator accused Phillips, who is also Glen Point’s chief investment officer, of manipulating the US dollar/South African rand exchange rate to trigger an appropriate payment under two major binary options contracts his fund purchased.
