Benchmark US crude for January deliveries fell $2.24 to $72.01 a barrel on Wednesday. Brent crude for February delivery fell $2.18 to $77.17 a barrel.
Wholesale gasoline for delivery in January fell 7 cents to $2.08 a gallon. Heating oil fell 14 cents in January to $2.78 a gallon. Natural gas rose 25 cents in January to $5.72 per 1,000 cubic feet.
