A laboratory of India’s Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has developed a new one-step hydrogen-free desulfurization process to remove sulfur from crude oil, according to a statement from the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The simple and cost-effective process offers a potentially transformative low-carbon desulfurization solution for bulk processing of petroleum streams at ambient pressure and mild temperatures, the statement said.
