Abuja: Nigeria, with crude oil reserves of more than 37 billion barrels and the sixth largest world producer, has discovered and launched the first oil drilling project in the north after decades of exploration.

Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC) announced the discovery of hydrocarbon occurrences in the Kolmani River II well in the Upper Benue Trough of the Gongola Basin in the northeast of the country.
