Nigeria is losing at least 700,000 barrels of crude oil to thieves every day, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Chief Timipre Sylva said in Effurun, Delta on Saturday.
He made the claim at the 2002 graduation ceremony of Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) students.
But the minister, represented by Ambassador Gabriel Aduda, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, said the federal government was making a concerted effort to contain the threat.
