Earlier this month, Southwark Crown Court ordered Swiss multinational commodities trading and mining company Glencore to pay £281 million ($334 million) in fines, confiscated profits and penalties. The verdict came in June after Glencore pleaded guilty to seven counts of bribing officials at state oil company Nigerian National Petroleum Corp (NNPC) and other energy companies across Africa.
