Energy stocks were higher Thursday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index up 1.7% while the SPDR Energy Select Sector ETF (XLE) was up 1.6%. The Philadelphia Oil-Service Sector Index was up 1.4% and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index was up 1.2%.
West Texas Intermediate crude was up $1.33 to $89.24 a barrel, while North Sea Brent crude was also up $1.09 to $96.78 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures were $0.29 lower at $5.31 per 1 million BTU.
