Energy stocks far outperformed most broader Friday markets, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index and SPDR Energy Select Sector ETF (XLE) both up 2.6%. The Philadelphia Oil-Service Sector Index was up 3.5%, but the Dow Jones US Utilities Index slipped 1.7%.
