Energy stocks erased some of their earlier declines on Friday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index falling 1.0% while the SPDR Energy Select Sector ETF (XLE) was down 0.8%. The Philadelphia Oil-Service Sector Index fell 0.7%, while the Dow Jones US Utilities Index rose 1.9%.
