Energy stocks erased some of Thursday’s previous declines, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index falling 0.6% while the SPDR Energy Select Sector ETF (XLE) was down 0.2%. The Philadelphia Oil-Service Sector Index fell 0.3% and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index fell 1.9%.
