Benchmark Sensex and Nifty indices tumbled more than 1 percent on Wednesday, driven by strong selling in IT, financials and oil stocks amid mixed global trends.

The 30-stock BSE barometer fell 773.69 points, or 1.27 percent, to 60,205.06 as 22 of its stocks fell while eight rose. The index opened lower and fell nearly 900 points later on the day to a low of 60,081.36.
