Many of us associate oil with transportation, heating (used as fuel oil in stoves to heat homes), and electricity (diesel generators). But oil is more ubiquitous than that. Oil is also used to make plastics, synthetic materials, chemical products, personal care products, and asphalt. And then there’s the assortment of everyday items that contain oil products, like nylon, polyester, acrylic, and spandex towels, soap, shampoo, detergent, toothpaste, and more.
